My little sister has a December birthday and sometimes feels like it gets lost in the “Christmas Buzz.” My other little sister is obsessed with TLC’s Cake Boss show, so I decided to throw a Birthday Cake Boss party and we all got together at my parent’s house and practiced our cake-decorating skills (which are almost non-existent).
I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Cake Boss. I received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
I had all the Cake Boss supplies you could imagine all out and ready to go. My little sister’s eyes lit up and she was SO EXCITED to decorate cakes (She’s 12). It turned out to be really fun for all of us.
We decorated cupcakes as well as 2 round cakes. One of my favorite Cake Boss products is their cake pans, as well as the cake carrier and turn table. They are sturdy and high-quality, and our cakes had no issues with sticking to the baking pans. This was also my first time working with fondant, so that was fun! I now feel WAY more confident making my children’s birthday cakes in the future. I don’t know why cake decorating has always intimidated me, I guess it has always just looked hard. Don’t get me wrong, my creation was nothing you would see in a magazine, but I think it would pass the approval of any kid!
My sister decorated her cake as a flower patch, and I did a Santa Claus. I used fondant for the lips and nose, and regular frosting for everything else.
If you are going to decorate cakes or cupcakes, I think the number one product for making it look really nice is a variety of frosting tips. I LOVED experimenting with various tips to figure out all the different things I could do with them.
Our parents snuck in several times to see the setup and thought it was all so fun. I’m excited to try out my different frosting tips on some gingerbread houses!
Happy Holidays Everyone!
