I absolutely love makeup. Before I became a mom I would spend an hour or more every day on my hair and makeup. But since then I have simplified my makeup routine a lot. With two kids it has become more difficult to spend much time on primping. So I thought I would share with you a quick three-minute makeup routine. This is what I do on a daily basis. It’s quick enough that I can do it daily and easy enough I can do it on the go or bring it with me (for extra inspiration, you need to watch the fun YouTube video at the end of this post)!
3 Minute Makeup: Makeup Tricks for Busy Moms
First, I start by using Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue. It’s similar to a BB cream or tinted moisturizer but it covers really well. It saves me so much time and is so easy to use. As a busy mom having my skin care, sunscreen, and makeup all in one is a HUGE time and money saver. Not only does it cover blemishes and even out skin tones, it is also good for your skin and protects it from the sun. I just apply by putting it onto my clean hands and blending it into the skin. On spots that need extra coverage, I will apply a little more and build up the coverage in those areas. I love that it gives me coverage but still looks so natural and is hydrating to the skin. I picked mine up at my local Ulta Beauty Store.
Second I will put on under eye concealer. As a mom I feel like I rarely get enough sleep and the bags under my eyes are proof of that. I absolutely cannot live without a good under eye concealer. It can take you from looking haggard to refreshed in seconds. There are two keys to a good under eye concealer. The first is actually to go a shade or two LIGHTER than your skin. What this does is it brightens up under your eyes and really makes your skin look refreshed. The second is to apply it in a triangle shape by going from the inside of your eye down your nose and back up to the outside of your eye. If you just apply it right under your eyes where the bags are, it can actually accentuate the bags. By doing the triangle, it will brighten up the whole under eye area.
Third I will apply my mascara. Nothing fancy, just a few coats to help enhance my eyes.
Fourth I apply a lip color. Depending on the day it may just be a sheer gloss or a full bright lipstick. Putting on lip color is the finishing touch that makes your look put together. My favorite trick when I don’t have a lot of time to get ready but I’m going out is to apply a bold lip. Bold lips look great with simple eye makeup and it really tricks people into thinking you spent a lot of time getting ready.
And that’s it! It really does only take me three minutes, or less, to accomplish this beautiful simple makeup up look.
