I decided to make these printable award certificates as part of our new “Family Awards Night” tradition. These awards certificates are to help train me as a mother to notice all the positive traits, talents and abilities of my children. Life can get so hectic and busy that we can find ourselves forgetting to encourage, uplift and motivate each of our children. Heck, most days I’m just surviving.
Especially lately. I’m in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy and my patience is wearing really thin. It’s hard not to be grumpy with my kids all day when my 2-year old and 5-year old are constantly at each other’s throats. And it’s hard to give my 6-year old the attention she deserves, when her younger siblings are constantly getting….ahem…negative attention.
But with the arrival of our 4th child coming in just a few weeks, I got desperate and finally decided to take an online parenting course. I know I need it. Heck, every parent probably needs it. None of us got official training for this gig, but we probably should have!
This weeks lesson was on 2 Things Every Child Needs from Their Parents. In summary, it’s belonging and significance. Almost all negative behaviors stem from one of these needs. And this is how Family Awards Night was born. Hopefully, as I recognize something each week that my children need to be praised for, they will recognize that they have a place in our family, and that they are valued greatly.
FAMILY AWARDS NIGHT
Feel free to use these printable awards certificates for your kids as well. I made a printable family award certificate for both 2-parent families, as well as single parent families. I hope you all enjoy them!
Underneath the award, you can write additional details on how they won that particular award, or you can have them stand up on a chair with their award certificate while you go into details, so the whole family can hear how awesome they are!

Also, if you are doing this as a one-time event, or you are wanting to make an extra big deal of it one night, you can get some fun trophies for really cheap to go along with the award certificate.
If you’re interested in a free version of the parenting course I am taking, she does a webinar called “Get Your Kids to Listen Without Yelling or Nagging” and it has a lot of really great info in it!
