This is for Utah Residents. There is a free seminar taking place at the Utah Valley Convention Center that is focused on helping parents learn how to make sure their children watch age-appropriate programs, as well as safely use the internet and other media, in ways that benefit the whole family. This will be awesome, please share it on your Facebook profiles for those of your friends that might like to attend! The things we share on Facebook really should be things like this that are aimed at strengthening our families!
The seminar, which is co-sponsored by the Daily Herald, will feature national media and child health experts who will talk about how media affects children, what content to watch, how to use technology in a way that helps families and how to use parental controls to keep media age-appropriate.
Dr. Michael Rich, a pediatrician, world-renowned researcher specializing in media and child health, and director of the Center on Media and Child Health at Boston Children’s Hospital, will keynote the seminar. Dr. Rich is an associate professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and associate professor of society, human development and health at Harvard School of Public Health. His keynote address will talk about how families can balance child wellness with their media environment to best care for children in a speech titled “Finding Huck Finn: Reclaiming Childhood from a River of Electronic Screens.” He will take questions after his keynote address.
