My Husband’s Birthday + Free Birthday Meals

If you read my post last week on fun ways to celebrate a spouse’s birthday, I was also trying trying to figure out what I was going to do for him this year. To be honest…I already knew what I was going to do, but he often times reads my blog so I had to throw him off by making him think I had no idea what I was doing. 🙂

My Husband’s Birthday Celebration: Video Tribute

This year, he wanted to keep it chill and spend time doing some things he loves with just me and the kids. So since we weren’t doing a party with everyone else, I emailed and sent texts to friends and family a week or two prior and asked them to record a birthday message on their smartphone.  I figured we live in a unique day and age when almost everyone has a smartphone (and those who don’t can easily borrow one for 30 seconds). I had them describe him using 3 words, and then if they wanted to add anything extra after that, they could!  Luckily my brother-in-law offered to do the video editing for me, and we loved how it turned out! I think I might have teared up more than he did because I realized all of these things are so true about him!  Take a look:

*Here are some hiccups we ran into:  If anyone recorded a video that was over a minute long, the iphone would send a message “video is too long” when trying to text it to me.  If you run into a similar problem, have them send you shorter videos, or use the Dropbox app to share the files.

My Husband’s Birthday Celebration: Birthday Freebies

Since my husband’s birthday landed on a Sunday, we decided to do most of our celebrating on Saturday. We started off the day by running around and collecting his birthday freebies.  Many restaurants send you free stuff on your birthday if you sign up for their email list. I have a separate email account for junk mail so that I am not annoyed by anything they send throughout the year, and then when it’s birthday week I login to my account and print off birthday coupons.

Here are some of our favorites (We intended to redeem most of them, but it’s just way too much food)

free on your birthday

Tucanos: Free meal (we saved this one since you don’t have to redeem it the exact week of your birthday).

Rubios: Free  meal

Noodles and Co.:  Free Meal

Red Robin: Free Gourmet Burger

Krispy Kreme: Free donut

Cold Stone Creamery: B1G1 Free Creation

Here is a site that lists all the places that give you free stuff on your birthday.  Prepare to be overwhelmed.  The good thing is most places give you a week to redeem them, so if you wanted to celebrate for an entire week, you totally could.

My husband’s only other requests for his birthday were: A drive up the canyon to look at the fall colors, long boarding with his wife, and a gourmet cupcake (Our family is still too small for making full-on birthday cakes.  They just sit on our counter and go bad).

Here are a few pics from our long boarding ride:

When I asked him if he had fun, he said: “Ya!  It was nice and chill!”  What that really meant was, “My wife is so slow!”  Haha! 🙂

We got caught up in the moment until we remembered that we had babies waiting for us at home. They were so excited to see us come back that they both pooped at the same time. Sisters that poop together, stay together.  Is that how the quote goes?

I'm six-foot tall mother of three and I'm enjoying the view! I'm currently fighting a battle with Lyme disease and am determined to come out victorious. I enjoy warm summer rain, peanut butter everything, having dance parties with my husband and kids, natural remedies and healthy living. Most days I'm just looking for another excuse to avoid the piles of laundry.
