Tis the season….for HOT CHOCOLATE! Anyone else get some snow on the ground this week? We did! And it took all the self-restraint I could muster not to put up the Christmas tree. The husband insists I wait until after Thanksgiving!
Okay, back to the hot chocolate. If you missed my previous post on the best homemade hot chocolate mix in the world, you probably need to go check it out. It's very handy to have stored in your pantry. Plus, if you go that route, Peppermint Hot Chocolate is very easy too! Just crush up some candycanes or peppermint candies, and add them to your mix! Peppermint Hot Chocolate Recipe
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 1/4 Â cup heavy cream
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar
- pinch of salt
- 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 4 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- mini peppermint marshmallows (to put on top at the end)
Peppermint Hot Chocolate Directions
Mix all of your ingredients (except for the chopped chocolate and mint extract) in a saucepan on mediaum-low heat until it begins to lightly simmer. Remove from heat and add your chocolate and peppermint extract. Stir until chocolate melts. Top with marshmallows and whipped cream (if desired).
