You know from my post on Children’s Books that Teach Life Lessons, that I enjoy buying books, games and apps that are fun but that also teach an important life lesson. We live in such a busy world and there are so many pulls on our time. We also live in a world where morals seem to be slipping quickly. I’m all about appreciating technology, but I personally feel that if my child is going to be playing a game on the iPad, it might as well be educational as well.
This App rocks for being fun and providing teaching moments! Geared for kids ages 2-6, it contains 24 books to read (each with a different lesson/moral), a harbor to explore, and a great game to play where you get to drive Fergus around Seaport Harbour, do rescues, scare sharks and avoid crashes.
At home with the kids? Instantly access any of these printable activity bundles to keep them learning!
The stories have fun rhyming and include lessons such as: confidence, true friendship, anti-bullying, overcoming fear and not always following the crowd (to name a few). Your child can choose the “read by myself,” or it can be read aloud. Hurry and download this App while it’s still free! from now until June 30th, 2014 the full app is FREE on iPhone and iPads/99c on Android and Free on Amazon Devices.
Background behind the creation of the app: The author, John Williamson Noble came up with the idea for Fergus Ferry with his young son, Tom in mind. John traveled to and from work daily on the ferry which gave him time to create these cute rhyming stories. Not only are the stories engaging and fun, but each one also features a different life lesson such as bravery, dealing with bullies, don’t play with fire, and many more. The beautifully detailed illustrations were created by Peter Townsend. The adorable characters Peter has created will endear Fergus and all his friends to readers both young and old alike.
