The Ultimate Disneyland Survival Kit

Your kids are so excited – you've just told them about the Disneyland vacation you've been planning for months! They're running around, jumping up and down, so excited that they finally get to meet their favorite Disney characters. You, on the other hand, are stressing to the max. Your to-do list is about a mile long, and you need to figure out what to bring to make the trip a success.

Well, we've got that covered for you. With the help of some Disneyland experts, we have put together the ultimate Disneyland Survival Kit. For some extra unique items to make your entire trip go smoothly, check out our post What to Buy Before Your Trip to Disneyland, and check out our Disney Travel Guide.
The best thing about the kit?! Everything in it fits into a medium sized backpack, and you can find it all at Wal-Mart or on Amazon.

We know you can buy autograph books that are specifically for Disneyland, but it's often cheaper to just buy a regular one. Get one that has space for autographs next to the photos. Once you print your pictures of your kids with their favorite characters, you'll have their autographs right there.

Kids run. And kids are clumsy. Running + clumsy kids = scraped knees. You don't need to go all-out with an extremely expensive first aid kit. Rather, a simple travel kit will do. Make sure it has plenty of band-aids!

Chapstick

California is a desert, and prime vacation months are usually pretty warm and full of sun. Don't forget the Chapstick! Nobody has fun when their lips are constantly burning! Getting a three-pack should last you for the whole trip and beyond.

Ibuprofen

Headaches pop up at the least convenient times. Grab a travel size bottle of ibuprofen and you won't have to worry about a headache ruining your fun!

Runny noses and allergies happen. And nobody like to use their shirt to blow their nose. Or maybe you do – and that's great, but we think we'll stick with Kleenex!

Sunscreen

No one's vacation should be ruined by a sunburn. Make sure you don't forget to pack the sunscreen! Grab one with a high enough SPF to be effective. Spray sunscreens are usually your best bet with kids.

After COVID-19, all of us have become more aware of the germs around us. With so many people at Disneyland, you'll want to protect your family. Get hand sanitizer with at least 70% alcohol content.

Healing Ointment

With all of the walking you'll be doing, you might fall victim to chafing. That can certainly ruin a vacation, so protect yourself and your family from pain by bringing along some healing ointment.

Baseball Cap/Hats

The sun is a wonderful thing, but sunburns are not so much. Throw a hat into the bag for everyone in your family. Bonus points if it's Disney!

Water Bottles

It's important to stay hydrated! Dehydration is no joke, especially in the hot California summer. Make sure you bring a water bottle for everyone. It's a lot cheaper than buying water in the park.

Sunglasses

Another thing that comes with the summer season is a need for sunglasses. Everyone should have a pair, both to protect their eyes and to make the day more comfortable to be in.

Rain Ponchos

Sometimes it rains in California, so these are a good item to have. It is also possible to get completely soaked on a couple of the rides, so, again, it is a good idea to have a poncho. Find ones with pockets if you can!

Snacks

The food in Disneyland is expensive, so you'll need to be choosy about when you buy food for your family. Bringing snacks along will fight off hunger pains and keep your kids from complaining in the hours leading up to dinner.

Extra Outfits

If you have young children, you'll want to bring extra clothes along in case they get messy or have an accident. The last thing you want is to have to spend money on overpriced clothes because your little tyke wet themselves!

Wet Wipes

These are a blessing for cleaning up any mess. Whether it's in the hotel room or on your kid's face, wet ones are a necessity for any traveling parent. Make sure to pack a couple of packs for a longer trip!
