Some of you may know that I’m big on emergency preparedness, both with family & friends, and also in my community (If you haven’t seen my post on ‘What to Put in a 72-Hr Kit, I provide a printable menu that we used for the 1,000 kits we put together in our neighborhood).
We’ve had severe flooding in our town (twice now), and when it first happened several years ago, I realized I had not prepared my family at all for an emergency. And although the chances are pretty high that you will see a major natural disaster in your lifetime, emergency preparedness is not JUST for natural disasters. I’ve heard countless stories of families relying on their food storage in times of economic trouble and job loss.
Anyway, back to several years ago. Once I realized how little prepared we were, I kind of got the craze. And yes, some people would say that I got crazy about emergency preparedness. I started reading lots, and trying foods from all kinds of companies.
VALLEY FOOD STORAGE REVIEW
MOST FOOD STORAGE IS MADE CHEAP
At home with the kids? Instantly access any of these printable activity bundles to keep them learning!
A lot of them are just okay. And the shelf life that they promise is a joke because of the ingredients that are in them. Your food storage can only keep as long as your least stable ingredient. A lot of these food storage companies are filling their food with cheap ingredients in order to pay their bottom line. Cheap oils like canola, vegetable, sunflower, and soy bean oil are used a lot because their cheap, but they also go rancid more quickly….which means there’s no way they are going to be good 20 years from now!
THE PROBLEM WITH MEAT
Another problem, is that many companies use MEAT in their meals. Meat is awesome, but no matter how you package it, animal protein will start to break down within 5-7 years, effecting the food it’s packaged with.
One thing I love about Valley Food Storage, is that you can buy meals and meat packaged separately. Not only is this awesome for shelf life, but it also enables you to ration meat if you need to, switch up meals with different kinds of meat, or leave things meatless if someone has dietary concerns with meat.
INGREDIENTS YOU CAN PRONOUNCE:
I was so impressed with the guy that made the food for Valley Food Storage, that I met with him several times to ask more questions. His story is awesome. He started making these meals because he researched almost every company out there and met with food scientists in order to completely understand how food breaks down. He simply couldn’t find a good enough product to buy, so he started making his own. Check out the ingredient list on two of these meals:
As part of my Valley Food Storage Review, I spent last summer trying EVERY SINGLE MEAL they offer. Instead of spending HUGE amounts of money on packaging and marketing, Valley Food Storage instead spends money on quality ingredients and keeps everything else super simple. We now stock up on their food, and not only save it for emergencies, but also whip something up really quick on nights that I don’t have time to make dinner. These meals are also awesome for camping since you just add water!
Here are the other reasons that Valley Food Storage is now the only company I buy from:
- Great Price
- Shipping Costs
- No Fillers- ingredients you can pronounce
- High-Quality Packaging Materials
- Package Process – Nitrogen Replacement
- No MSG
- Made In The USA
I also love how many items they have that are gluten-free, and how good they are (I find that a lot of times with gluten-free you end up with other crappy ingredients that you don’t want, but not here). They also have great dairy-free options.
Hope You Enjoyed My Valley Food Storage Review and that it Helps You on Your Emergency Preparedness Journey!
